Overview

RTO Lighting is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Spray Booth Lead to our spray finishing operations. This role is responsible for operating the spray booth and applying lacquer finishes to metal parts, maintaining the spray booth and all related tools and equipment, coordinating the weekly schedule of spray booth duties across the Spray Booth Team, managing purchasing of consumables and supplies, and serving as the primary point of contact for all spray booth related communication. The ideal candidate has hands-on spray finishing experience, strong organizational skills, and a problem-solving mindset for troubleshooting quality issues. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must. Willingness to work fluidly across departments is also a plus as we are a small team and it is occasionally necessary for employees to perform work outside of their normal duties.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate the spray booth and apply spray finishes to metal
  • Train and oversee a team of 2-3 people
  • Maintain the spray booth, spray gun, and all other tools and equipment related to spray booth operation
  • Maintain the prep-room, lacquer jigs, wire racks, and all other tools and equipment used to prepare products for spray finishing
  • Manage a routine purchasing checklist for consumables, tools, and equipment
  • Coordinate the weekly schedule of spray booth duties across multiple production departments, including:
    • Daily spraying
    • Lacquer mixing
    • Spray booth clean up
    • Spray gun break down and set up
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for communication regarding spray booth maintenance, scheduling, and purchasing of consumables, tools, and equipment
  • Troubleshoot and resolve QC issues as they arise related to spray finishes
  • Conduct research and development related to new products, existing products, and QC improvement efforts
  • Keep a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with company standards
  • Execute work by priority according to a schedule; keeping within estimated time frames

Requirements & Qualifications

  • 3+ years of spray finishing experience, ideally with lacquer finishes on metal
  • Background in lighting, furniture, or design-related manufacturing is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of spray equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with lacquer application and spray finish standards
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship
  • Team-oriented mindset with strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work fluidly among different departments
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Detail oriented self-starter with time management and scheduling skills

    Hours

    • 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Monday through Friday
